The short version

Notta records online meetings through a bot or through a bot-free recorder on your device, transcribes in its cloud, and produces AI notes with summaries and action items. It has a web app, a Chrome extension, desktop apps for Mac and Windows, and mobile apps for iOS and Android, and it can ask questions across several meetings. Plans are metered in minutes and uploads per month.

MediaFind is a desktop app that does the transcription, notes and search on your own machine. Its Meetings mode (Pro) captures a live call without a bot, and everything else you record, from lectures to voice memos to video, goes into one searchable library. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no minute count.

Read the limits, not just the price

Low monthly prices for transcription usually come with a meter. On Notta's plans it is minutes per month, uploads per month, AI summaries per month and a maximum length per file. For a few meetings a week that is plenty. For someone who wants to transcribe a back catalog of two-hour workshops, the per-file and monthly caps are what decide the real cost.

Also check where files are stored and how long they are kept, whether you can export everything if you leave, and whether the free tier is a real plan or a trial. On Notta's free tier, for example, each file can be at most three minutes long, which makes it a taster rather than a working plan for long recordings.

When Notta is the better choice

• You need it on every device. Notta has web, Chrome, Mac, Windows, iOS and Android apps, so you can record a class on a phone and read it on a laptop.
• Live translation. It advertises real-time and bilingual translation, available as paid add-ons on higher plans.
• A low price for moderate use. Its Pro plan is inexpensive when billed annually and covers 1,800 minutes a month.
• Integrations and teams. Notta connects to Zoom, Meet, Teams, Webex, Slack, Notion, Salesforce, HubSpot and Zapier, and its Business plan adds usage reports and security controls.
• Certifications. Notta states SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR, CCPA and HIPAA compliance, hosted on AWS.

When MediaFind is the better choice

MediaFind suits people whose recordings should not sit in a vendor's cloud, and people with more audio and video than a monthly meter allows. On Pro there is no limit on how many files you index, and no monthly minute count. Once the models are downloaded, you can transcribe on a plane.

Search goes beyond meetings, too. You can look for a moment by meaning, filter by speaker, find a slide by the words on it, or search video by what was on screen, then jump to the exact second. The Ask assistant answers from your whole library and shows which clips it used. If you record other people, let them know first. Where MediaFind falls short

MediaFind has no meeting bot, no translation and no shared team space. Its phone companion is an Android beta that searches your library over Wi-Fi rather than recording on its own, and an iOS version is only planned, so it is not a replacement for Notta's phone apps. The main app runs on Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 14 or later; Windows and Linux builds are in beta.

As of September 27, 2026, Notta's pricing page lists Free with 120 minutes a month and a three-minute limit per file; Pro at $8.17 a month billed at $97.99 a year (monthly billing costs more), with 1,800 minutes a month; Business at $27.78 a month, or $16.67 a month billed at $199.99 a year, with unlimited transcription; and Enterprise on request from 51 seats. Paid files can be up to five hours long. Translation is an extra add-on. Check current pricing before you buy.

Frequently asked questions

Does MediaFind count minutes?

No. The free plan is limited to 10 media files and Pro indexes without a cap. Long recordings simply take longer to process on slower machines.

Is there a MediaFind app for my phone?

There is an Android companion in beta that searches your library over Wi-Fi. An iOS version is planned. Recording and transcription happen in the desktop app.

Can MediaFind translate a meeting live?

No. Translation is not a listed feature. Notta offers live translation as a paid add-on.

Where does Notta keep my recordings?

Notta's security page says it uses Amazon Web Services and encrypts data at rest and in transit. MediaFind keeps recordings in the folders you choose on your computer.
