Find the post-worthy moments hiding in your brand's footage
A social calendar needs something new every day, and the raw material usually already exists: last quarter's customer interviews, the conference booth footage, the founder's podcast guest spot. The hard part is knowing what is in there.
The content is there, the moments are not labeled
Most social managers inherit a drive, not a library. Folders are named after the shoot date or the agency that delivered them, and nobody logged which interview had the great line about switching from a competitor, or which event clip shows a packed room.
So the calendar gets filled with what is easy to find, which is usually the newest footage. Older material that would make a strong post sits untouched because finding a 20-second moment in a 40-minute interview costs more time than the post is worth.
The usual ways to mine footage
What most teams are missing is a way to ask the whole archive a question in plain words and get timestamps back.
- Ask the editor or agency. They know the footage, but every request waits in their queue.
- Upload to an online clipping tool. Fast at suggesting clips, but the brand's unreleased footage goes to another company's servers, and the suggestions pick what the tool thinks will perform, not what fits your message.
- A shared spreadsheet log. Excellent when someone keeps it up. It rarely survives the second busy month.
From a brief to a posted clip
The same search works across months of material at once, so a theme week (every mention of sustainability, say) becomes one search instead of a week of rewatching. See making vertical video from horizontal footage and burning captions into a video for the editing steps.
- Add the brand's footage folders to MediaFind. It transcribes speech and indexes frames and on-screen text on your computer.
- Search from the brief. Spoken lines: “a customer describing the first week after switching.” Visuals: “product on a kitchen counter in morning light.” Text on screen: a campaign hashtag on a banner or a slide title.
- Play each result at its timestamp and cut the ones that work into clips of their own.
- Open a clip in Create, the free built-in editor. Reframe it for vertical or square, trim by editing the transcript to drop silences and filler words, burn in captions and add a title.
- Render an MP4 and post it with your usual scheduler.
Brand-specific searches (Pro)
Two Pro features are aimed at exactly this kind of footage. Brand-logo detection finds where a logo appears, by name or from an uploaded sample image, which helps find sponsor placements or clips that show your own product clearly. People and Faces lets you click a spokesperson or ambassador once and see every appearance across the library.
For long recordings, Pro's Auto-Reel ranks the best moments of a webinar or livestream as short highlights you can drop onto the timeline, and highlight reels can stitch every moment about one topic into a single video. Treat both as a first pass; you still pick what matches the voice of the brand.
Releases, music and client footage
Footage you can find is not always footage you can post. Check that people on camera signed a release covering social use, especially customers and event attendees, and that any music in the clip is licensed for the platform. Music search can show you which clips have music under them, which is a useful check before a clip goes out.
If you work for several clients, keep each client's footage in its own folders and libraries. MediaFind indexes and searches on your machine with no account and no upload, so an embargoed launch video never leaves the drive it arrived on.
Frequently asked questions
Can MediaFind make vertical clips for Reels, TikTok or Shorts?
Yes. The free Create editor can reframe a clip for vertical or square, burn in captions, add titles and render an MP4 you can upload anywhere.
Does it post to social platforms for me?
No. It finds and cuts the moment and renders the file on your computer. Posting and scheduling stay in whatever tool you use today.
Can I find every clip where our logo appears?
With Pro, brand-logo detection finds where a brand appears, searched by name or by an uploaded sample logo image.
Is the brand's footage uploaded anywhere?
No. Indexing, search and the editor run on your computer with no account. After the one-time model download it works offline.
